William Ruto’s Newly Appointed CSs Sworn In as Gen Z Stages NaneNane Protests

President William Ruto’s newly appointed Cabinet Secretaries (CSs) have officially taken office amidst a backdrop of national tension.

The swearing-in ceremony for the 19 Cabinet secretary nominees took place on Thursday, July 8, at the State House.

In his address, President Ruto urged all Kenyans to support the new Cabinet in their efforts to lead the country forward.

“I pray that the almighty God grants you strength, wisdom, clarity and focus as you assume office and wish you success in your new assignment. I ask citizens of our great nation to give a chance to these great men and women; to this new Cabinet and to support them to deliver on the mandate given to them constitutionally as they perform their duties in the best interest of our country,” Ruto said.

The ceremony was attended by senior state officials and the families of the new CSs. Among those present were Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua and Prime CS Musalia Mudavadi.

The first to take the oath of office was Interior and National Administration CS Kithure Kindiki, followed by Defence CS Soipan Tuya, John Mbadi (National Treasury), Justin Muturi (Public Service), and Aden Duale (Environment, Climate Change, and Forestry).

Other CSs who were sworn in included Lands CS Alice Wahome, Julius Ogamba (Education), Davis Chirchir (Transport), Rebecca Miano (Tourism and Wildlife), Hassan Joho (Mining, Blue Economy, and Maritime Affairs), Alfred Mutua (Labour and Social Protection), Eric Muuga (Water and Sanitation), Salim Mvurya (Investment, Trade, and Industry), Debra Barasa (Health), and Kipchumba Murkomen (Youth Affairs and Sports).

Ministry of Energy CS Opiyo Wandayi, Margaret Nyambura (ICT and Digital Economy), Wycliffe Oparanya (Cooperatives), and Andrew Karanja (Agriculture and Livestock Development) were also sworn in.

President William Ruto gazetted their appointments on Wednesday after they were approved by the National Assembly.
