Safina Party leader Jimi Wanjigi has raised concerns about the recent political development between President William Ruto and ODM leader Raila Odinga.
Wanjigi, who has a history of conflicts with both the current and previous governments, suggested that President Ruto’s efforts to unite various political factions might be an attempt to consolidate power and suppress dissent.
Speaking on Citizen TV, Wanjigi expressed skepticism about the longevity of the Ruto-Raila partnership, especially given that Raila has integrated some of his top advisors into the ruling administration.
“Let’s wait and see how long they will last when they are there because they may jump out. I would not be as confident as Ruto is about uniting the country,” Wanjigi remarked.
When asked about his thoughts on the broad-based government, Wanjigi implied that Raila might not fully grasp the severity of the challenges facing Ruto’s administration, noting, “Maybe Raila has not understood the gravity of the problem and how deep Ruto’s ship has sunk.”

Wanjigi also criticized the newly appointed Treasury Cabinet Secretary, John Mbadi, questioning his ability to resolve the economic challenges facing the government despite his intelligence.
Despite some regions appearing satisfied with the current political developments, Wanjigi argued that Kenyans remain united in their economic struggles and are unlikely to support the current administration.
He further suggested that Kenya might see another general election before 2027, claiming that Ruto has violated the law and that Parliament has ignored the constitution.
“I am a very intentional person. We have drawn up a script following the constitution that will bring an election before 2027,” Wanjigi stated.
