DP Ruto asked President Uhuru Kenyatta to forgive him for not achieving his expectations during an earlier prayer breakfast hosted at the safari park.

The president and his deputy are set to meet at the Uhuru Gardens in Nairobi for the Madaraka Day celebrations.

The president and his deputy will lead Kenyans in commemorating the achievement of Kenya’s internal self-rule from British colonial powers in the year 1963 on Madaraka Day.

The 59th Madaraka Day will be attended by senior leaders from outside the country, including Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio, who is now in Kenya on a five-day official visit.

Sierra Leone President Julius Maada Bio will be the Chief guest at the event, that will take place on June 1, 2022.

“We chose to commemorate Madaraka Day here rather than in the counties this year because it will be the final for this regime,” said Interior Principal Secretary Karanja Kibicho.

According to Kibicho, the number of people attending the celebrations will increase from 10,000 to 30,000 as a result of reduced government containment measures.

“We commemorated the occasion last year during the Covid-19 epidemic, and while we are still not out of the woods, we have raised the number of individuals from 10,000 to 30,000.” The program, which has been celebrated around the country, has also incorporated children’s participation,” Kibicho explained.

The celebrations on Madaraka Day will take place 69 days before Kenyans vote in a general election to choose a new Head of State to succeed President Uhuru Kenyatta.
