Sharon Kosgey, the only survivor of the fatal accident, has cooperated with the police in their ongoing investigation into the incident. In her statement, Sharon recounted the moments leading up to the crash, emphasizing that the vehicle appeared to be in good condition with no prior issues.

According to Sharon’s account, she alerted Kiptum, who was driving at the time, about the vehicle veering off the road. Despite their efforts, Kiptum was unable to regain control of the vehicle before it veered off the road.
“We have successfully obtained a statement from Sharon Kosgey, and it has been verified that Kelvin Kiptum was driving at the time of the accident. While our investigation remains ongoing, we assure the public that once it concludes, we will share our findings,” stated a police officer involved in the investigation.
DCI officers handling the investigation have vowed to gather more information about Kiptum’s final moments from individuals who were present at the time of the accident. The findings will be shared with the public once the investigation is complete.
President William Ruto has directed experts to construct a three-bedroom house for Kelvin Kiptum’s family before his scheduled burial on February 24. Engineers will commence the project after consultations with the family to ensure its completion before the burial.
Kiptum’s widow revealed that his last promise was to build a house for his family and had already made architectural plans for it.
As part of their efforts to bring closure to the case, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have interviewed three unidentified men who visited Kiptum’s family days before his demise.
The men claimed to represent a Chinese company interested in striking a deal with the marathon star.
“Our conscience is clear; we know that whatever we were dealing with was something good and would have helped this family,” one of the men stated.
