A man living in the United States, who bears a striking resemblance to Kenya’s first president, Jomo Kenyatta, recently shared his story about asking his mother if the late head of state was his biological father.
His curiosity was piqued after children compared his appearance to that of the former president.
When he approached his mother with the question, her response was harsh.
“I asked her who my father was. As soon as I asked her that question, she slapped me so hard that I hit the wall and started seeing stars. She beat me and warned me against asking the same question again,” he recounted in an interview with kikuyunationtv.
This incident caused a significant rift between him and his mother.
The man revealed that the person he grew up with was actually his stepfather, not his biological father, and he felt justified in seeking the truth about his paternity.
“That man did not love me but his kids because I was not biologically his. My mum always listened to her man and would occasionally punish me whenever her lover told her I had done something wrong. Sometimes I would run away and sleep outside or at my neighbors’ because of being beaten by my mum,” he shared.
Despite his mother’s refusal to discuss the topic, he persisted in asking about his real father.
He noted that his mother, now 80 years old, had lived near the late Jomo Kenyatta and that her Member of Parliament was Peter Mbiyu Koinange.
The story gained widespread attention on social media, where many users reacted to the video of the man.
Comments ranged from suggestions to take a DNA test to observations about his resemblance to Kenyatta.
One user remarked, “Even Jeff Koinange looks like Kenyatta to some extent,” while another added, “This guy looks closer to Kenyatta senior than Uhuru.”
