On Tuesday afternoon, July 23, National Assembly Speaker Moses Wetang’ula informed the House of the new Cabinet nominees awaiting vetting.
Aden Duale, previously renominated as the Defence Cabinet Secretary, has now been reassigned to the Environment and Forestry Ministry.
This position was formerly held by Soipan Tuya, who will now take over the Defence docket.
“I wish to convey to the House that I have received a message from His Excellency the President, notifying the nomination of various persons for appointment to the Offices of Cabinet Secretaries,” Wetang’ula announced.
“In the message, Honourable Members, His Excellency the President conveys that, in the exercise of powers conferred on him by Articles 152(2) of the Constitution, as read together with sections 3 and 5 of the Public Appointments (Parliamentary Approval) Act, 2011, he nominates various persons for appointment to the aforementioned offices,” Wetang’ula added.
Duale and Tuya are among the six previous Cabinet members President Ruto has recalled to serve in the National Executive.
