Ruto Nominates John Mbadi as Treasury CS

In Summary:

1) President William Ruto unveiled his second batch of Cabinet nominees on Thursday at State House, Nairobi, accompanied by DP Rigathi Gachagua.

2) The head of state nominated John Mbadi as the new Cabinet Secretary (CS) for National Treasury to replace Njuguna Ndung’u.

3) Kipchumba Murkomen is the new Ministry of Youth Affairs, Creative Economy, and Sports CS nominee, while former Tourism CS Alfred Mutua moves to the Ministry of Labour.

President William Ruto has announced the remaining half of his new Cabinet members.

On Wednesday, July 24, the head of state nominated John Mbadi as the new Cabinet Secretary (CS) for National Treasury.

If approved by the National Assembly, Mbadi, who is serving his fourth term as a legislator, will succeed Njuguna Ndung’u, who was recently removed from office by the President.

The new nominee is a certified public accountant in Kenya and holds a Bachelor of Commerce and a Master of Business Administration.

Before joining the National Assembly, Mbadi was the Finance Director for Medair East Africa’s South Sudan Programme and worked as a senior accountant at Nairobi University.

Additionally, Ruto named former Kakamega governor Wycliffe Oparanya as the new CS for the Ministry of Cooperatives.

7) Ministry of Co-operatives and Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises (MSMEs) Development: Wycliffe Ambetsa Oparanya
8) Ministry of Public Service and Human Capital Development: Justin Bedan Muturi
