Nakuru, Kenya (Topnews) – Following the recent anti-finance bill protests, authorities have accused six politicians and several NGOs of financing the disruptive events.
On Monday, July 15, in Kuresoi South Constituency, Nakuru County, President William Ruto specifically called out the American organization Ford Foundation.
He accused them of funding the protests, which led to significant disruptions.
“We are going to call them out and tell them if they are not interested in democracy in Kenya, if they are going to sponsor violence and anarchy, they either shape up or leave,” Ruto declared.
He questioned the Ford Foundation’s motives, asking, “Why do they give money to cause chaos in our country? We do not have a spare country. What benefit do they gain from sponsoring violence?”
Ruto emphasized his administration’s commitment to holding accountable anyone who supports young Kenyans in creating chaos during otherwise peaceful protests.
He demanded the Ford Foundation provide clarification regarding their activities during the three-week-long protests.
“Our youth are not available for retrogressive assignments. Those sponsoring them to cause violence and mayhem must be ashamed of themselves. We ask the Ford Foundation to explain to Kenyans its role in the recent protests,” Ruto asserted.
