Raila Odinga has denied rumors that former President Uhuru Kenyatta is to blame for his fifth rejection from the race to become Kenya’s next leader.
Odinga has also revealed details of their communications with the former President, who has thrown his support behind him ahead of the 2022 elections.
In response to assertions from Raila’s supporters that Uhuru Kenyatta had all the resources at his disposal and would have done everything to keep the crown on his head, Raila stands up for the Azimio chairperson.
In an interview with Ramogi Tv on Monday night, Raila Odinga claimed that some team members didn’t take their dockets seriously, which is what he blamed for his defeat.
He continued by saying that the former head of state never once put his feet in the wrong place. According to Odinga, Uhuru and they had previously agreed that fair elections would be held, and rigging was not on their agenda.
“Some people can blame Uhuru Kenyatta for my loss, but the truth is that there are some of our people who failed to do exactly what we required of them.” Raila stated
“He agreed with him before election that it would be conducted in a free and fair manner. Rigging was not in our plan because I know Ruto cannot beat me in a free and fair elections” he continued.
