The French champions Paris Saint-Germain announced on Tuesday that they had parted ways with Mauricio Pochettino as their head coach.
Christophe Galtier has taken his position, having led Lille to the 2021 Ligue 1 title, just ahead of the Argentine and PSG.
It is predicted that Galtier, PSG’s sixth coach since the Qataris acquired the team 11 years ago, will finally bring home the Champions League trophy.
Galtier admitted to being emotional and proud during a press appearance on Tuesday.
“I am quite aware of the responsibility put on me because PSG had such a successful season.
“I have prepared myself for this.
If I’ve agreed to take on these obligations, it’s because I believe I am up to the task.”
PSG’s statement concluded, “The club would like to thank Mauricio Pochettino and his staff for their work and wish them the best going forward.”
