Prof. Patrick Lumumba, the former boss of the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC), has written a letter to President William Ruto and Raila Odinga, the leader of the Azimio One Kenya coalition, outlining his opinions on the state of the nation.
Lumumba expressed his displeasure with the two leaders’ conduct after the August 2022 elections in a letter dated March 1, 2023.
According to the renowned scholar, the two leaders are engaging in a verbal war as Kenyans suffer from rising living costs.
Lumumba urged both Ruto and Raila to prioritize Kenyans’ interests.
Lumumba urged President Ruto to continue carrying out his duties as Head of State without fear, while also working with the opposition.
“Work with the Opposition to ensure economic recovery, social cohesion, and political stability,” the letter reads.
Prof Plo Lumumba urged Raila not to consider who is right and who is wrong, but rather to consider the entire nation.
“The country is watching. I urge you, for the sake of Kenya, to remain deaf to the entreaties of those who are urging intransigence,”Prof Plo Lumumba said.
He told Raila that, regardless of how he feels, he should use his considerable experience and influence to assist existing institutions such as Parliament in bringing about necessary changes as we look to the future.
