Kirimi, who had joined the school a mere 10 days earlier, complained of a stomach ache on January 26, 2024, at 10:40 am, as Muema solemnly stated in a now-viral TikTok video.
Muema explained that the school chaplain attended to Kirimi, advising him to drink water while arrangements were made for his tea.
“On their way back, the student fainted, and his classmates informed the prefects. The deputy principal immediately informed me, and I appointed one of the teachers to rush him to the hospital,” Muema recounted.
Despite being conscious and talking during the journey, Kirimi was declared dead upon arrival at the hospital.
“The doctor called me and asked me to urgently go to the hospital. When I got there, I confirmed that indeed the student had died,” added Muema, his voice heavy with grief.
Muema, visibly shaken, reported the incident to the police and then informed both the Board of Management chairman and the deceased’s parents. Kirimi’s father, in a heartbreaking interview, recalled receiving a call from the school administration requesting a meeting with the principal.
“We have recorded statements with the DCIO, who is conducting investigations to establish the cause of the death,” Muema explained, emphasizing the school’s cooperation with authorities.
Expressing concern over visible injuries on Kirimi’s forehead, the family insisted on a postmortem, leading to the postponement of the scheduled examination. Muema clarified that the school had cooperated with the authorities, awaiting the postmortem report to ascertain the true cause of Kirimi’s untimely death.
“We also want to tell the public that whatever is circulating on social media is not the true situation,” Muema stated, dismissing speculations and ensuring transparency.
The grieving father echoed the family’s distress over the mysterious circumstances surrounding Kirimi’s demise, further emphasizing the urgency of uncovering the truth through a thorough investigation.
“But let it be on record that we don’t have any students in the school who have injuries,” Muema asserted, aiming to reassure parents and dispel any misinformation.
