Political Strategist Ngunyi Advises Raila Amidst Political Shifts

Summary:
In the aftermath of former Prime Minister Raila Odinga’s meeting with ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee leaders, political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi issues a caution. Ngunyi questions the viability of the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance, urging Raila to concentrate on revitalizing his Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. He asserts that the alleged collaboration with Uhuru may not yield benefits for Raila, emphasizing that the political landscape has shifted since the 2022 elections.

Political analyst Mutahi Ngunyi delivers a word of caution to former Prime Minister Raila Odinga following his recent meeting with ex-President Uhuru Kenyatta and Jubilee leaders. Ngunyi, expressing his views on his X account, contends that Raila should be wary of expecting substantial gains from Uhuru, especially considering the latter’s defeat by President William Ruto in the August 2022 polls.

Taking to Twitter, Ngunyi makes a bold declaration that the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Alliance is now defunct, terming it the “BIG CON of our political history.” He advises Raila to shift his focus towards building and reinvigorating his own political entity, the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) party. Ngunyi’s message to Raila and Uhuru is succinct, encapsulating it with the phrase, “..Nothing Personal, JUST business,” while alleging that Uhuru and Kikuyus are exploiting their alliance with Raila.

Ngunyi’s remarks come in the wake of Raila’s attendance at Uhuru’s meeting, where discussions unfolded with some Jubilee leaders, including blogger Pauline Njoroge. The gathering occurred against the backdrop of reports indicating that Uhuru, along with Martha Karua and Eugene Wamalwa, rejected the National Dialogue Committee (NADCO), a move at odds with Raila and Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka’s endorsement.

As Raila intensifies the ODM recruitment drive across different counties, preparing for the April 2024 party polls and maintaining activity for the 2027 elections, Ngunyi emphasizes the significance of not underestimating Raila’s efforts to rejuvenate the ODM party. While political experts weigh in on the evolving landscape, Ngunyi’s counsel to focus on party building reflects the intricate dynamics at play in Kenya’s political arena.
