2) Kahiga urges MPs to heed public opinion and prioritize stability in the country.

Nyeri Governor Mutahi Kahiga has declared that any plan to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua is destined to fail.

Speaking out against the efforts by some leaders to bring an impeachment motion, Kahiga dismissed the accusations against Gachagua as frivolous.

“We are told that the Deputy President opposed the Finance Bill during a Cabinet meeting. We should applaud him because the Finance Bill was ultimately rejected by Kenyans,” he said.

Kahiga emphasized Gachagua’s strong connection to the grassroots, contrasting it with leaders who no longer represent the people effectively.

Kahiga condemned the impeachment plans as an attack on the region and its people.

“If there is an impeachment being considered against the DP, that is an affront towards the mountain and it is an attack on us as people, and we will not take it lightly,” he added.

“Whoever feels that is the way to go, we tell them bring it on and we will deal with it when that time comes.”

The Nyeri governor expressed confidence that President William Ruto would not support such a move.

“As a wise politician, I do not see the President going along that kind of way,” Kahiga said.

He stressed the need for national stability, noting the country has already lost two years due to Gen Z demonstrations and other disruptions.

Kahiga also advised MPs to listen to the public and ensure they appoint capable Cabinet Secretaries.

“MPs should listen to the ground so that they do not bring more problems. If the people say they do not want an individual, feel free to reject that person. The President has 50 million Kenyans to choose from and he should not be held hostage by anybody for any reason,” Kahiga concluded.
