In Summary:
1) School principals will utilize the eCitizen platform for fee collection, ensuring transparency and efficiency.
2) The directive aims to harmonize fee collection, promote accountability, and establish a monitoring system for compliance with relevant policies in public secondary schools.

In a recent directive, Principal Secretary Julius Bitok of the State Department for Migration and Citizen Service affirmed that school principals will gain access to fees through the eCitizen platform, ensuring convenience and transparency.

“We are open to discussions and other inputs that will support the objectives of the directive,” he stated.

Bitok emphasized that the eCitizen payment platform, established by the Directorate of eCitizen, guarantees a seamless and transparent payment collection process. This will enable principals to promptly and fully access funds allocated to their schools.

As part of the Ministry of Education’s initiative, national schools have been instructed to provide their banking details to facilitate fee payment via the eCitizen platform.

The directive aims to streamline fee collection, enhance coordination, and foster transparency and accountability within the education sector. Additionally, it seeks to enforce compliance with policies and regulations governing fee levying and payment in public secondary schools.

Bitok outlined a phased rollout plan, beginning with national schools and expanding to include extra county and county schools. The implementation process will involve consultations with stakeholders to ensure a smooth transition.

“We are open to discussions and other inputs that will support the objectives of the directive,” Bitok reiterated, highlighting the collaborative approach towards effective implementation.
