Former Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has publicly committed to opposing any attempts to impeach Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.

Speaking at a funeral service in Subukia, Kuria emphasized that he has forgiven past grievances and will not support any moves against Gachagua.

Kuria suggested that prior to the Cabinet’s dismissal, Gachagua may have been inclined to target Mt Kenya leaders.

However, Kuria stated he would not retaliate, saying, “I will not agree for the deputy president to be impeached. As long as I am alive, I will not agree he be impeached…we cannot pay a bad deed with a worse one, I have released him on a free bond.”

“I will not again allow we make silly mathematics. We remove people where they are and take them where we have no direction because I am not alone. We are leading 10 million,” said Kuria.

Meanwhile, Gachagua addressed the impeachment rumors in a recent interview with a vernacular media station.

He downplayed the concerns, expressing readiness to leave office if speaking for his constituents led to his removal.

Gachagua linked the impeachment speculation to the recent inclusion of ODM leader Raila Odinga and his allies in the Kenya Kwanza government.

The Deputy President revealed that President William Ruto had assured him that Odinga’s involvement was aimed at stabilizing the country, not facilitating Gachagua’s removal from office.

Gachagua expressed surprise at suggestions that MPs from the Mt Kenya region might be behind the impeachment efforts, given his advocacy for the area’s interests.

Gachagua challenged any impeachment attempts, stating that signatures should be collected from the general public rather than MPs, as it was the Kenyan people, particularly those from Mt Kenya, who elected him alongside President Ruto.
