Public Service Cabinet Secretary Moses Kuria has intensified his critique of Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua amidst escalating tensions within the United Democratic Alliance (UDA).

In a statement released on Sunday, Kuria accused Gachagua of refusing tea at State House, purportedly due to fears of poisoning—a move that Kuria claims reflects a breakdown in trust between Gachagua and President William Ruto.

Kuria’s statement included ten pointed questions directed at Gachagua, challenging his leadership credibility and decisions.

Among these queries, Kuria raised concerns about Gachagua’s ability to ensure the safety of fellow leaders during meetings at his Karen residence, hinting at potential harm.

The CS also alleged that Gachagua had demanded Ksh10 billion from President Ruto for development in the Mt Kenya region, a request that was reportedly denied, leading to discontent.

Kuria further questioned Gachagua’s capacity to lead the Mt Kenya region given purported losses in trust among elected leaders.

In addition, Kuria criticized Gachagua for what he described as idle politicking instead of focusing on governance responsibilities.

He questioned Gachagua’s plans for the Mt Kenya region and speculated on his intentions for the upcoming presidential elections.

Accusations of Gachagua pressuring President Ruto to dismiss Kuria from his ministerial post were also raised by Kuria, alongside allegations of political maneuvering within party affiliations.

Kuria’s challenges to Gachagua culminated in a proposition: “Answer these 10 questions, Deputy President, and convince me—I will then consider joining your movement. We can lead our people to the opposition, as you desire.”

The escalating feud between Kuria and Gachagua underscores deepening divisions within UDA, potentially influencing political dynamics in the region ahead of future elections.
