A rising star in European football has drawn comparisons to the legendary Ronaldinho from his former manager as both Arsenal and Manchester United closely monitor the Dutch forward.

The 23-year-old, who has impressed since his move to Serie A from Bayern Munich, is reportedly in discussions for a summer transfer to Old Trafford.

The forward has attracted attention from several top European clubs, including the Gunners.

Former Bologna manager Thiago Motta heaped praise on the player in an interview with Sky Sport Italia, highlighting his unique talent and drawing parallels to Ronaldinho’s playing style.

Motta noted that while the forward admires football greats like Zlatan Ibrahimovic, he sees Ronaldinho’s flair in his play.

Motta stated, “His idols are Ibrahimovic and Batistuta, but seeing him daily, he reminds me of Ronaldinho. He is just special.”

Initially skeptical about the player’s ability to start, Motta was won over by his confidence and leadership.

The Juventus boss recalled, “I wasn’t sure about starting him, but he bet on himself and proved to be a leader.”

Standing tall at 6ft 4in, the forward scored 11 goals in 34 appearances for Bologna last season, helping them secure a Champions League spot and earning a call-up to Ronald Koeman’s Euro 2024 Netherlands squad.

Despite some criticism of his goal tally, Motta defended his overall contribution, saying, “There are forwards who only think about goals, but not him. He has a big heart, and that makes the difference.”

Topnews.co.ke has learned that Arsenal may now be focusing on other targets, with interest in Sporting Lisbon’s Victor Gyokeres and previously considering Benjamin Sesko before his contract renewal at RB Leipzig.

The race for the talented forward appears to be between Manchester United and AC Milan, with Corriere dello Sport reporting that United are the only club willing to meet the €40 million clause and €15 million commission for his services.

However, reports suggest he may prefer to stay at Bologna to play Champions League football next season, potentially shifting Arsenal’s focus elsewhere.
