Land Grab Concerns: CS Alice Wahome Exposes Forged Documents in Ruiru’s 2,500-Acre Parcel

Summary:
Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome unveils a plot to seize a 2,500-acre land in Ruiru, citing forged documents. Wahome insists the land belongs to legitimate title deed holders.

A new development unfolds in the controversy surrounding a 2,500-acre parcel in Ruiru, Kiambu County, as Lands Cabinet Secretary Alice Wahome discloses a scheme involving forged documents aimed at claiming ownership of the prime land.

CS Alice Wahome, a seasoned lawyer, refutes allegations that the government intends to displace residents for a housing project, asserting that the land, known as Ruiru East Block 4, rightfully belongs to its occupants.

Addressing the issue for the first time amidst protests from Gikumari village residents and local leaders, Wahome calls on the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to launch a thorough investigation into the matter and prosecute those responsible for the forgery.

Dismissing claims that titles were fake, Wahome reassures the community, stating, “I am telling those who were behind the move to grab the 2,550-acre parcel of land to forget about it for the land belongs to the title deed holders. Your ownership documents are genuine.” She urges the DCI Ruiru to take swift action and withdraw security officers involved.

Ruiru Member of Parliament Simon King’ara praises Wahome’s response, expressing solidarity with Gikumari residents who feared eviction over the holiday season.

King’ara affirms, “I cannot allow people from nowhere to come and disturb the peace that we have been enjoying in Ruiru, we will move to any office to protect our land. I also have a piece of land in that area.”

The contested land, situated in Gikumari area within Ruiru sub-county, spans the Eastern Bypass and Juja Farm. Locals claim a 40-year settlement history after acquiring the land from a colonial settler.
