Former Meru Governor Kawira Mwangaza has broken her silence following the Senate’s decision to uphold her impeachment on Tuesday, August 20.
The Senate removed Mwangaza from office on charges of gross violation of the constitution, misconduct, and abuse of office.
In a heartfelt message on Wednesday, August 21, Mwangaza remained optimistic despite her political downfall.
She urged her supporters to stay steadfast, assuring them that blessings and opportunities would come their way through divine intervention.
“Today, the Lord will fight for you & your household. He will give you permanent victory in every area of your life. A new beginning of victorious living is starting for you & you shall have great testimonies. Every door of blessings, greatness shut at you, shall be open; every missed opportunity shall be restored. Divine visits from heaven that will transform every ugly situation into beauty in your life will manifest today,” Mwangaza stated.
The Senate’s decision was based on three charges against Mwangaza.
On the charge of gross violation of the constitution and other laws, 26 senators voted in favor, 4 opposed, and 14 abstained.
On the second charge of gross misconduct, 26 senators voted yes, 2 voted no, and 14 abstained.
The third charge of abuse of office saw 27 senators voting in favor, 1 opposing, and 14 abstaining.
Announcing the outcome, Senate Speaker Amason Kingi declared, “The Senate has tonight voted to uphold the decision of the County Assembly of Meru to remove from office by way of impeachment the Governor of Meru County, Kawira Mwangaza.”
