Wiper party leader Kalonzo Musyoka has signaled a shift in his stance regarding engagement with ODM leader Raila Odinga.

Speaking at the Oslo Center Africa Youth Forum, Musyoka indicated his openness to discussions with Odinga, whom he still recognizes as the leader of the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition.

This change comes after Musyoka’s previous criticism of the alleged agreement between Odinga and President William Ruto.

Musyoka stressed the importance of continued dialogue with Odinga, stating, “You see, we must continue to engage with Raila Odinga. He is, as we speak, the leader of Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition. There is no way we will not engage with him going forward. So that is expected until we come to a decision on whether to release him to go completely to the AU.”

Musyoka reaffirmed the Azimio coalition’s cohesion, dismissing concerns about its unity.

He acknowledged that differing opinions within the coalition are normal and do not indicate fragmentation.

Looking ahead to the 2027 General Election, Musyoka expressed his intent to form a formidable alliance to challenge the ruling Kenya Kwanza administration.

The Wiper leader also commented on the current political climate, suggesting that the ruling party’s popularity has significantly waned.

He confidently claimed, “When that time comes, we will have to look at that. The idea is to form a formidable coalition that will not only drive Kenya Kwanza home mapema. I am quite sure if there would be an election in this country today there will not be a Kenya Kwanza.”

This development marks a potential realignment within the opposition, as Musyoka seeks to balance criticism of recent political moves with the need for a united front against the current government.
