Kalonzo Musyoka, leader of the Wiper Party, has announced that the Azimio la Umoja One Kenya Coalition will resist any impeachment motion targeting Deputy President Rigathi Gachagua.
This statement follows a report by The Standard, which revealed a meeting on Saturday, July 27, where 21 MPs decided to propose an impeachment motion against Gachagua, accusing him of undermining the Presidency.
Addressing the issue at a requiem mass for journalist Mercy Mawia Mwangi at the African Inland Church Milimani, Kalonzo also criticized the government’s recent cabinet appointments.
President William Ruto had nominated five ODM members for key cabinet roles in an effort to form a broad-based government.
These nominees include Wycliffe Oparanya for Cooperatives, Hassan Joho for Mining and Blue Economy, Opiyo Wandayi for Energy, John Mbadi for National Treasury, and Beatrice Askul for EAC and ASALS.
Kalonzo denounced the inclusion of opposition MPs in the cabinet and reaffirmed Azimio’s commitment to advocating for Kenyan rights.
He emphasized that the appointment of ODM members does not equate to a genuine national unity government.
