“There are some people who never go beyond their village and he wants to be a leader,” Kuria remarked.
Kuria referenced an August 2023 incident where Gachagua mocked him for arriving late to an event organized by the President. Kuria had been publicly reprimanded by President Ruto for his tardiness at the State House performance signing contract event in Nairobi.
Kuria, who had previously hinted at an imminent impeachment, shared a video clip of Gachagua seemingly gloating over his misfortune.
In a pointed social media post captioned “Mungu nifunze kunyamaza (God teach me to shut my mouth),” Kuria compared his own experience with a recent instance where Gachagua apologized to President Ruto for arriving late to the Akurinu celebration.
Kuria noted his current alignment with the President, contrasting it with Gachagua’s recent criticisms of Ruto’s government policies, including the revenue-sharing formula.
Although Kuria did not specify who might be targeted by the impeachment motion, he highlighted the shifting political dynamics.
Back in August 2023, Gachagua enjoyed a close relationship with the President, while Kuria faced potential removal from his cabinet position, suspecting Gachagua’s involvement in his transfer from the Trade Ministry to the Public Service docket.
Kuria also announced plans to host a football tournament in Kiambu County, inviting President Ruto, former President Uhuru Kenyatta, and Azimio Leader Raila Odinga, among others.
Notably, Gachagua’s name was absent from the list of invitees, underscoring the ongoing discord between the two leaders.
“I have achieved everything now and will retire with President Ruto, but in the remaining years, I will cause headaches to some people,” Kuria stated, signaling continued political friction ahead.
