After a dramatic day on Tuesday where former Interior Cabinet Secretary Dr. Fred Matiang’i faced investigators at the Directorate of Criminal Investigations, it is now becoming clear that Raila Odinga’s visit at the DCI offices could have saved the former CS.
The former CS was not permitted to leave the Kiambu Road-based facility for seven hours.
While Dr. Matiang’i was being questioned, Raila arrived at DCI headquarters but was turned away by police officers guarding the facility.
Raila’s arrival, however, came as a relief to the former CS, who was released a few minutes later.
However, how did this happen?
It is now known that tension began to rise after Raila arrived and was refused access because police officers feared that former President Uhuru Kenyatta would have joined his coalition partner and wreaked havoc at the DCI facility.
Dr. Matiang’i ultimately managed to secure his freedom amidst this fear and to prevent potential chaos had Uhuru joined Raila.
