The National Land Commission (NLC) has issued a new directive to landlords concerning the Nairobi Western Bypass Road Project and the dualing of the Nyali Bridge-Mtwapa-Kwa Kadzengo-Kilifi (A7) road section.
In a Gazette notice dated Friday, May 31, NLC Chairperson Gershom Otachi announced that several landlords will be impacted by these projects, while some previously listed properties have been excluded.
In Mombasa County, over 18 landowners will need to relocate to make way for the new road construction.
These parcels, located in the Ziwa La Ng’ombe area, are all below 0.5 hectares. Seven other landowners have been removed from the project list.
“The National Land Commission on behalf of Kenya National Highways Authority (KeNHA) gives notice that the National Government intends to delete, correct, and add the following parcels of land listed below for the construction of Nairobi Western Bypass Road Project in Kiambu County,” part of the notice states
Affected landowners in the Lower Kabete and Kabete areas include three individuals with properties measuring 0.0208 hectares, 0.4075 hectares, and 0.1348 hectares.
These landowners are advised to visit the Gathiga Chief’s office on June 18 and June 19 from 10 am to inquire further.
“Every person interested in the affected land is required to deliver to the National Land Commission on or before the day of the inquiry written claim to compensation, a copy of the identity card, personal identification number, land ownership documents, and bank account details,” Otachi explained..
“Plans of the affected land may be inspected during office hours at the office of the National Land Commission in Ardhi House,” Otachi added.
The NLC office is located on Ngong Avenue in Nairobi, with additional information available at the Commission’s county coordinator office in Kiambu County.
Notably, all affected landowners will be entitled to compensation for their properties.
