In Summary:
1) Majority parties within the Azimio Coalition staged demonstrations at the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties, demanding justice for their candidate elected to the IEBC selection panel.
2) The parties are calling for the Registrar, Ms. Ann Nderitu, to reinstate the name of Dr. Augustine Muli, who they claim was the rightful winner, and to address concerns of fraud and rigging in the election process.
Majority Parties within the Azimio Coalition have staged a demonstrations outside the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties to demand justice for their elected candidate to represent the new formation of IEBC commissioners
The parties are now calling Registrar of Political Parties Ms Ann Nderitu to immediately return the name of National Liberal Party Leader Dr Augustine Muli who was elected during the IEBC selection panel
The Majority of Constituent Parties out of 23 political parties demands credibility in the whole process. Vows not to relent until Azimio Coalition agrees on who was voted after presenting two names to be elected
Speaking in Nairobi on Wednesday 31st July, section of Party Members demanded answers as to why the elected candidate’s name Dr Augustus Muli was not tabled at Parliament and instead preferred the second candidate who had been defeated during the election
“We want the President now to intervene on this matter because the Registrar of Political Parties should ensure the candidate who won during election is the one whose name is tabled at Parliament,” Party of Independent Candidate of Kenya Chair Julius Wambua stated.
The parties now wants the Registrar of Political Parties Ms Ann Nderitu to expunge the name of the person presented by powerful individuals within the coalition and maintain the will of the people
They questioned the integrity of the IEBC selection panel for accepting the will of the majority be subverted yet they pretend to hold, fair, verifiable and credible General Elections
“Which country are we in if people’s will can be subverted to this low? We can’t allow ODM leaders led by Suna East MP Junet Mohamed single handedly remove our candidate’s name and brings another one,” Erick Majanja, Chair United Democratic Party read the joint statement
