Nairobi, Tuesday, July 23, 2024 – A devastating accident occurred on the Southern Bypass near Ole Sereni Hotel, leading to the deaths of two drivers and serious injuries to three other individuals.
The accident, which happened early in the morning, involved multiple vehicles, including three trucks that caught fire.
According to National Police Service spokesperson Resila Onyanyo, the two drivers died instantly, while the other three victims sustained severe injuries and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.
Onyanyo stated, “The two drivers died on the spot while the trailer caught fire and the driver burned beyond recognition.”
Footage from the scene, viewed by Topnews.co.ke, revealed the intensity of the fire that engulfed the trucks, highlighting the severity of the crash.
Images shared online also showed the trucks in flames, emphasizing the seriousness of the incident.
Traffic police officers have advised motorists to expect delays and have diverted traffic from the Mombasa Road direction to facilitate the ongoing rescue operations, which have resulted in significant traffic congestion.
Emergency services are continuing their efforts to clear the scene and restore normal traffic flow.
