1.Government Performance Review:
The Kenya Kwanza Parliamentary Group is currently in session at Naivasha, Nakuru County, for its annual retreat, which forms part of the second National Executive meeting.
This gathering, scheduled until February 21, 2024, serves as a platform for lawmakers to deliver progress reports on the 13th Parliament’s second session and strategize for the upcoming third session. Of particular significance is the review of the cabinet secretaries, principal secretaries, and other senior government officials’ performance.
This assembly marks the second retreat following last year’s inaugural event held in Nanyuki, Nyeri County.
2.Ruling on Graft Case:
In the legal sphere, the Eldoret Anti-Corruption Court is poised to render a judgment on Henry Maritim Koech and five co-defendants accused of conspiring to commit graft and deception.
The charges stem from alleged embezzlement of Ksh12.2 million designated for road upgrades in Nandi County, awarded to Makiki Agencies.
3.Ngolesia Forgery Case:
Simultaneously, the Milimani Anti-Corruption Court proceeds with the trial of Samuel Ngolesia, also known as Samuel Krop Ngolesia.
The charges against Ngolesia include forgery, uttering false documents, deceiving a principal, fraudulent acquisition of public documents, and providing false information.
These accusations relate to the forgery of academic certificates purportedly used for employment within the Public Service.
4.Scheduled Power Interruptions:
Kenya Power announces scheduled power interruptions affecting seven counties on February 20, 2024, for network maintenance purposes.
Notably, parts of Nairobi, Uasin Gishu, Kakamega, Kisumu, Nyeri, Kiambu, and Kilifi will experience power outages during specific time frames.
Detailed lists of affected areas and their respective time slots have been provided by Kenya Power for public awareness and preparation.
