In Summary:
- Donald Trump alleges Joe Biden was forced out of the 2024 presidential race.
- Biden endorsed Kamala Harris as the Democratic candidate following his withdrawal.
The US presidential election is scheduled for November 5. On July 21, President Joe Biden announced his decision to withdraw from the 2024 reelection campaign and endorsed Vice President Kamala Harris as the party’s candidate.
US Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump has claimed that Biden was forced to drop out of the election campaign due to a coup.
In an interview with Fox Business, Trump stated, “It was actually a coup of a president if you think of it. He has got 14 million votes. He campaigned for a year and he ended up winning and they threw him out.
They said: either you get out now or we’re going to get you out in the hard way. They said: there’s an easy way and there’s a hard way, Joe, and you’ll get out. And he got out and they put this woman [US Vice President Kamala Harris], who is a failed candidate.”
Biden was originally expected to remain at the top of the Democratic ticket.
However, after his poor performance in the televised debate against Donald Trump on June 27, calls within the Democratic Party for Biden to step down intensified.
This led to his decision on July 21 to withdraw from the race and support Harris as the party’s nominee.
