CS Machogu Issues Directives for 2024 School Calendar Prep

Summary:
Cabinet Secretary Ezekiel Machogu instructs Ministry of Education officers to report daily, emphasizing parental preparation for the upcoming 2024 School Calendar.

Cabinet Secretary for Education, Ezekiel Machogu, has issued a directive requiring all Ministry of Education field officers to be present at their duty stations on all working days. The move aims to support parents in preparing for the upcoming 2024 School Calendar, as announced in a statement on Monday.

CS Machogu emphasized that Early Childhood Development, Primary, and Secondary schools are set to commence First Term studies on January 8, 2024, with Form One students reporting to their new institutions on January 15, 2024. Urging parents and guardians to take charge of preparing learners, Machogu emphasized the importance of readiness for the upcoming academic year.

Additionally, Machogu called on parents to exercise parental responsibility, guiding their children during the festive season and cautioning against the dangers of drug and substance abuse prevalent in some regions.

Last week, CS Machogu issued a stern warning to school principals against unauthorized fee hikes for secondary school learners, emphasizing that any such action would be unacceptable. He underscored the economic challenges faced by parents and declared that boarding fees in public secondary schools would remain unchanged in 2024, emphasizing the need for express approval before any fee adjustments.
