Billy Mwangi, a young man from Embu, was released early this morning, 15 days after his abduction. He had been taken while heading to a barbershop.

An eyewitness, a local woman, shared her account, saying she heard shouts of “Kujeni! Kujeni!” (“Come! Come!”) and rushed outside, where she saw Billy walking along the road.

Another woman confirmed that the individuals who released him seemed to avoid drawing attention.

Billy’s family expressed their relief at his safe return. A video captured the emotional reunion, showing 24-year-old Billy embracing his mother, Regina Wairimu, after being separated for nearly two weeks.

The poignant moment was filled with joy and gratitude as the family celebrated his return.

Earlier, Billy’s parents had appealed to the government for his release, promising to discipline him if the abduction was connected to any anti-government activities.

Billy’s father, Karicha, expressed hope after President William Ruto’s commitment to addressing abductions and forced disappearances in the country.

He also apologized on Billy’s behalf, should his actions have been linked to any online posts against the government.
