In the Kitutu Chache North Constituency of Kisii County’s Manyansi area, two football players were killed during a friendly game after being struck by lightning.
In the Saturday at 4:30 p.m. incident, both of the competing teams—Manyansi FC and Gianchore FC—lost a player.
According to information we have, Evans Akanga, the chair of the Kitutu Chache North Football Kenya Federation, confirmed that the players were killed during the friendly match.
However, local police claimed that they hadn’t yet received information about the tragedy.
Two additional players were taken to Nyamira Teaching and Referral Hospital for emergency treatment, where they are currently receiving treatment for their injuries.
