In particular, a roadblock at the GM roundabout on Mombasa Road and another at Bunyala Roundabout saw police restricting entry into the CBD.
Meanwhile, Jogoo Road was patrolled by armed officers who blocked the exit from Kayole Estate at Manyanja Road, preventing youths from joining the protests.
On Juja Road, connecting to Thika Road, no matatus were allowed toward the city centre, effectively halting public transportation.
Inside the CBD, police cleared the area, causing businesses to shut down, and PSVs to evacuate.
The situation grew increasingly tense as police deployed teargas to disperse the protesters, leading to multiple arrests throughout the day.
Acting police chief Gilbert Masengeli had earlier cautioned the public, warning of potential criminal elements within the demonstrations.
He urged residents to avoid protected areas, including the main international airport and President Ruto’s official residence, and to exercise caution in crowded places.
