In Summary:

  • The Party of National Unity (PNU) has decided to remain within the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party after deliberation by its National Executive Council.
  • PNU leader Peter Munya emphasizes the strategic importance of staying united within Azimio to push for change, while leaving the option open for future reassessment.

The Party of National Unity (PNU) has decided to remain in the Azimio La Umoja One Kenya Coalition Party, believing it is not the right time to leave.

PNU leader Peter Munya highlighted that the National Executive Council (NEC) concluded staying in Azimio was strategically better for promoting change.

Munya emphasized that leaving the coalition alone would be less effective than working for change from within Azimio.

He revealed that the NEC had decided it was not the right time to jump ship, adding that they were stronger together.

The former county chief noted that the party was in a better position to champion better governance and change from within Azimio.

He stated, “PNU is still in Azimio. If things continue as they are, we shall consider leaving.”

Munya explained that after consulting with other parties in the coalition, they agreed it was not opportune to leave at this point.

He added, “If we leave, it is better to leave as a group to continue pushing for the change we need in the opposition.”

Munya’s statement comes days after Martha Karua and her party, Narc Kenya, opted to leave Azimio.
