Government Publishes Raila Odinga’s Vision Statement and CV for AU Chair Campaign

In Summary:

1) Raila Odinga’s campaign for AU Commission Chair gains momentum with his CV and vision statement prepared and translated into multiple languages.

2) A secretariat has been established to lead Odinga’s campaign across Africa.

3) Prominent support and strategic preparations bolster Odinga’s bid.

Raila Odinga’s bid for the African Union Commission (AUC) Chairperson is gaining traction, according to Foreign Affairs Principal Secretary Korir Sing’oei.

Sing’oei revealed this progress on Friday, July 26, sharing photos of two key booklets: Odinga’s CV and his vision statement for the AUC post.

These booklets, translated into multiple languages, will be distributed across Africa to align with the AU Assembly’s resolution to adopt six official languages.

The government’s commitment to Odinga’s campaign was further demonstrated by Prime Cabinet Secretary Musalia Mudavadi on June 5.

Mudavadi announced the establishment of a secretariat to lead Odinga’s campaign efforts, affirming the government’s dedication to securing the prestigious position for Odinga.

He also confirmed the preparation of necessary documents and translations into Spanish, Portuguese, Arabic, French, English, and Kiswahili.

Raila Odinga expressed surprise at President William Ruto’s support for his AU candidacy, as he had not consulted the government prior to announcing his run.

Despite speculation, Odinga denied that the government’s backing was an attempt to address local political issues.

Raila’s campaign has received notable endorsements from several African presidents.

However, his path to the AUC Chair is complicated by other candidates, including Somalia’s former Foreign Affairs Minister Fawzia Adam and Seychelles’ former Vice President Vincent Meriton.
