KPLC Announces Power Interruptions in Six Counties on Sunday

  • Power outages to affect parts of Nairobi, Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, Bungoma, and Laikipia counties.
  • Scheduled maintenance will occur between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M. on Sunday, June 16th, 2024.

Kenya Power and Lighting Company (KPLC) has announced a planned power interruption on Sunday, June 16th, 2024.

The company made the announcement through their official Twitter account, informing the public that select areas in six counties will experience power outages for scheduled maintenance.

The affected counties are Nairobi, Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, Bungoma, and Laikipia.

The interruptions are scheduled to occur between 9:00 A.M. and 5:00 P.M., except for Kakamega, Busia, Siaya, and Bungoma, where the outages will be from 12:00 A.M. to 5:00 A.M.

In Laikipia, the outage will be from 8:00 A.M. to 4:00 P.M.

The specific areas within each county and their respective times are as follows:

Nairobi County:

  • Donholm, Savannah: 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
    • Affected areas: Old Donholm, New Donholm, Donholm Total Petrol Station, Donholm Equity Bank, Donholm Co-op Bank, Sunrise Estate, Greenfield Estate, Savannah Estate, Donholm Phase 5 & 8, Police Line, Oyster & adjacent customers.

  • Whole of Dakar Road: 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
    • Affected areas: Whole of Funzi Road, Dakar Road, part of Kitui Road, KCC Offices, Bamburi along Kitui Road & adjacent customers.

  • Part of Saika, Umoja 3: 9:00 A.M. – 5:00 P.M.
    • Affected areas: Saika Maili Saba, Dan Mills, Firoze, Umoja 3 kwa Chief, Mowlem Heights, MYSA Green, Saika Silanga & adjacent customers.
  • Kakamega County:
  • Mumias, Ingotse: 12:00 A.M. – 5:00 A.M.
    • Affected areas: Mumias Town, Ekero, Shlanda, Butere, Khwisero, Ingotse, Lutaso, Musaga & adjacent customers.

Busia County:

  • Busia, Rwambwa: 12:00 A.M. – 5:00 A.M.
    • Affected areas: Busia Town, Malaba Town, Korinda, Rwambwa, Bumala, Port Victoria, Sio Port & adjacent customers.

Siaya County:

  • Ugunja, Nyamninia: 12:00 A.M. – 5:00 A.M.
    • Affected areas: Ugunja Town, Rang’ala Complex, Nyamninia, Sawagongo, Sigomere, Dominion Farm, Siaya Prison, Ukwala & adjacent customers.

Bungoma County:

  • Bungoma: 12:00 A.M. – 5:00 A.M.
    • Affected areas: Bungoma Town, Kanduyi, Mabanga, Kibabii University, Sibembe, Malakisi, Butonge & adjacent customers.

Laikipia County:

  • Whole of Nanyuki Town: 8:00 A.M. – 4:00 P.M.
    • Affected areas: Nanyuki Town, Cidar Mall, Huruma Hospital, Sportsman Arms Hotel, Governor’s Office, Lerustic Hotel, Nanyuki Mall, Cottage Hospital & adjacent customers.
