(TopNews – Feb 4) – Helen and Alexandra Veevers, accused of poisoning their late father, British tycoon Harry Veevers, have been exonerated after a protracted legal battle spanning over a decade. The sisters, entangled in accusations brought forth by their stepbrothers, Richard and Philip, endured relentless scrutiny over their father’s demise.

The allegations stemmed from suspicions raised by Richard and Philip, who claimed to have discovered peculiar marks on their father’s body, prompting concerns of foul play. This led to a series of legal proceedings and, ultimately, the court-ordered exhumation of Harry Veevers’ remains, which were stored at Mombasa Hospital.

In a recent ruling delivered by Kenyan magistrate Charles Ndegwa, Helen and Alexandra were declared innocent of any criminal involvement in their father’s death due to insufficient evidence. The verdict brought a mix of emotions, with the sisters expressing relief but also grappling with the weight of the prolonged ordeal.

“The emotional and psychological impact has been enormous. For all these years we have had to live with the awful fear of being jailed in Kenya for something we haven’t done,” shared Alexandra in an interview following the court’s decision.

While the legal victory marks a significant milestone for the Veevers family, uncertainty looms over the distribution of Harry Veevers’ estate, as he passed away without a will.

The substantial assets, including three properties in Mombasa and Ksh 101.3 million held in a UK bank account, await resolution amidst ongoing discussions and legal complexities.

The exoneration of Helen and Alexandra brings closure to a tumultuous chapter in their lives, yet the broader implications of the case underscore the complexities surrounding inheritance, legal proceedings, and the pursuit of justice in high-stakes familial disputes.
