Confirming the incident, Nyanza Regional Traffic Enforcement Officer Allan Mwangi shared details of the unfortunate event. According to Mwangi, the bus, en route to Nairobi, was attempting to overtake another vehicle when it collided head-on with an oncoming lorry.

The impact of the collision claimed the lives of two women, eight men, and a teenage boy, with the severity of injuries indicating the immediate nature of the tragedy.

Following the collision, emergency services swiftly responded to the scene, transporting the injured to Ahero Sub-county Hospital and Jaramogi Oginga Odinga Teaching and Referral Hospital for medical attention.

A total of 53 passengers suffered injuries as a result of the accident, underscoring the magnitude of the collision.
