Uasin Gishu County Senator Jackson Mandago, who has been linked to the Finland scholarship issue, made a significant statement on the afternoon of August 29th expressing his views on the continuing talks between President Ruto and Raila.
According to reports, the vocal Senator believes that the discussions should prioritize repaying Kenyan citizens who incurred losses in terms of lives and property during ant-government protests organized by the leaders of Azimio la Umoja Coalition.
Senator Mandago suggested that the necessary monies for compensation be drawn from political parties that played a role in undermining Kenya Kwanza’s government.
“Uasin Gishu Governor Jackson Mandago suggests that discussions across party lines should consider compensating for lives and property affected during mass protests led by Azimio la Umoja,” The Star Kenya reported. “I suggest that the funds for compensation should be sourced from the political parties involved in the mass protests,” Mandago stated.
His remarks come in the midst of a motion in the national assembly that is set to allow the formation of a national discussion committee. Among other things, this committee hopes to facilitate the formation of an official office for the opposition leader.
It should be noted that, despite President Ruto’s directive, Mandago has failed to compensate victims of the Finland scholarship scam. As a result, both parents and kids have agreed to hold regular protests until the Uasin Gishu county government repays the promised monies.
