Kabando Wa Kabando, a former Mukurweini legislator, has recommended President Ruto to stop criticizing the Huduma Number initiative.
In a tweet on Friday, June 30, Kabando advised the President to focus on recouping the lost funds rather than wailing.
“True, you were alone, but the “huduma” errand was completed by Raila, Kalonzo, and your CS Mudavadi. Instead of crying, get the loot. Sir, you are not powerless” Kabando stated.
President Ruto referred to the project, which was promoted by the previous administration, as a pure scam on Friday.
Ruto stated that his country will build a new digital ID within the next ninety days while speaking at the KICC in Nairobi for the launch of digital government services.
“We must have a digital ID within the next ninety days. For Kenya, that digital ID has been devastating. The huduma number initiative, about which everyone is aware, was a total swindle in which we lost over Ksh 15 billion while receiving very little in return,” President Ruto stated.
The Head of State asked that government representatives demonstrate to Kenyans that a digital ID can be established for less than Ksh 15 billion.
“We must show within the next 90 days that a digital ID can be obtained without costing Ksh15 billion and without cheating the Kenyan people. And those responsible for it ought to feel ashamed of themselves,” he continued.
