Kenyans are eagerly awaiting the result of Raila’s much-anticipated march to the statehouse today.
Raila maintained on Sunday that his rally would be peaceful.
Residents of Kibera subcounty held a night vigil at Kamkunji grounds on Sunday night in preparation for the mass action headed by Azimio leader Raila Odinga.
The vigil was held to pray for a peaceful demonstration on Monday.
The community congregated to pray for the protesters and the Azimio leader, according to Bonface Omollo, a Kibera resident who spoke to the media.
Omollo also stated that the residents are committed to nonviolent protests, which is why the night vigil was planned.
“We want to ensure that our protests are peaceful, and that’s why we came together for this night vigil at Kamkunji grounds,” Omollo stated.
The protesters were urged to carry white towels as a sign of peace, saying that no one’s property or business would be destroyed during the demonstration today.
