Kenyan politicians have been accused of protecting bandits in the country’s North Rift region, where violence has claimed lives and caused losses.
In order to help the local police stop cattle rustlers, President Ruto imposed a curfew and sent the national army to the area, but peace has yet to materialize.
Members of Parliament from Turkana and Baringo claimed that top politicians were spotted using their helicopters to transport bandits rather than condemning their actions.
Additionally, the lawmakers claimed that these politicians are funding the ongoing killings and should be investigated
The security officials who testified before Parliament admitted that the loss of lives and property in the affected areas made the military deployment necessary.
The Turkana Central Member of Parliament described the entire region as uninhabitable due to the bandits’ activities, indicating that the situation is still dire.
