“I was dead for 90 minutes,” a 61-year-old man says of what he witnessed when medics attempted to save him.

A Man who had been dead for 90 minutes has described what he witnessed as doctors frantically tried to revive him.

While sleeping next to his wife Melinda, Alistair Blake, 61, suffered a sudden cardiac arrest in the early hours of January 2019.

Around three in the morning, she awoke to find her unresponsive husband “gurgling” in their beach house in Blairgowrie, Victoria.

While frantically awaiting the arrival of an ambulance, Melinda started performing CPR on her husband.

She acted immediately, using her knowledge from a recent first aid refresher course to try to revive Alistair for 20 minutes.

But by the time the ambulance arrived, the Australian was already dead and still not breathing.

Alistair received eight shocks from a defibrillator and continued CPR from paramedics for more than an hour.

Despite the patient being technically dead, they spent 90 minutes trying to restart his heart before, miraculously, they detected a heartbeat.

According to the 61-year-old man who talked to news.com.” I Have Some News For You. Technically I was dead for 90 minutes”

“I remember going to bed on Saturday night — and the next thing I remember waking up on Thursday morning on a trolley going from ICU to coronary care.

“The human brain has completely blocked what happened in between.”

He appears to have forgotten the terrifying incident due to the trauma of approaching death.

But Alistair has now disclosed the specifics of what transpired while he was down for the count.

“A lot of people ask me if I saw anything, and no, I didn’t see anything,” he said in response. Nothing at all like that, not even bright lights.

“I don’t know what’s out there, but as long as I’m healthy and fit, I don’t care,” the man said.

Alistair, whose family has a history of heart disease, was taken urgently to Frankston Hospital, where medical professionals unblocked his blocked artery.

He was then moved to the intensive care unit to cool his body and protect his brain, and he miraculously woke up with no physical or brain injuries.

As long as I’m in good physical and mental health, I don’t mind not knowing what’s out there. Added Alistair Blake

The Australian patient underwent precautionary surgery to have a pacemaker implanted in his heart and was released after 12 days.

The medical staff gave him the nickname “Lazarus” (a follower of Jesus who rose from the dead) because of his amazing recovery.

Alistair gave him a new perspective on life even though he didn’t have a spiritual awakening or an out-of-body experience as he staggered to the other side.

You approach life in a completely different way, he continued. “I’m cutting back on my work hours and making an effort to spend more time with my loved ones.”

The way I eat has changed. I exercise more and eat better.

“If you go, you go. If something is going to happen, it will.
