If Raila wins the August 9 general elections, Agriculture Cabinet Secretary Peter Munya has indicated that he will be the third most powerful government official in Azimio’s government.
Munya, who dropped his governorship bid, said he and the Azimio presidential candidate had agreed that he would be awarded a strong ministerial position with oversight of five other ministries and 31 parastatals.
His allies have urged the Meru community to overwhelmingly support Raila Odinga, the presidential candidate for the Azimio -One Kenya coalition, in order for the Meru to hold such a significant post for the first time.
“From Raila Odinga as president, Martha Karua as Deputy President, commanding number three will be Peter Munya. He will be the first person in Meru to hold such a high post,” EALA Mp Mpuri Aburi stated during a campaign rally in Meru County.
This is despite Raila promising Wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka the position of Chief Cabinet Secretary, the third most powerful position in his government.
As the countdown to August 9, 2022 approaches, it will be difficult to predict who will win the race for the state house.
