The IEBC has cleared Ruto and Rigathi Gachagua to run for the presidency.

Summary:

• On June 4, 2022, DP Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua were officially cleared to run for the presidency under the UDA Party.

• DP Ruto announced that Kenya Kwanza has named Kithure Kindiki as Chief Agent, who will be assisted by Veronica Maina and Governor Josephat Nanok.

The Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) on Saturday June 4,2022 officially cleared DP Ruto and his running mate Rigathi Gachagua to run for the head of state position in the August 9 general election.

Deputy President William Ruto expressed his delight after being cleared by the IEBC.

“I am delighted to have received the certificate that will allow Kenya Kwanza to participate in this year’s election.” Deputy Ruto stated.

DP Ruto went on to say that his camp has confidence in the IEBC and that his team will collaborate with it to ensure credible, free, fair, and verifiable elections.

“Kenya Kwanza has confidence in IEBC that it is up to the task and I commit that my team will work with you diligently so we can have a credible, free, fair and verifiable general elections,” Ruto said. 

The Deputy President also announced that Tharaka Nithi Senator Kithure Kindiki will be the Chief Agent for Kenya Kwanza.

Kithure Kindiki will be assisted by Veronica Maina (UDA Secretary General) and Governor Josephat Nanok.
