Four Kenyans have been working as nurses in the United States using forged diplomas.

The four nurses are among 10 whose licenses were canceled by the Washington Department of Health (WDH).

Ndungu Gabriel, Waithera Irene, Kamau Ruth, and Nganga Elizabeth are the four Kenyans.

Authorities in the US have been conducting a crackdown on nurses who have graduated from Florida nursing programs.

This follows the discovery that over 15,000 persons received nursing credentials from a Florida nursing school for a fee even though they lacked the necessary academic and practical training to practice as nurses.

“In conjunction with ongoing investigations into the legitimacy of multiple Florida-based nursing schools, the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) has taken non-disciplinary action to rescind the nursing (RN) license of the following individuals…” the WHD stated.

According to reports, nursing schools in Florida charged between Sh. 1.3 million and Sh. 1.9 million for each fake diploma. Thus far, Siena College, Sacred Heart International Institute, and Palm Beach School of Nursing have all received warnings.

As applications for licensing began to arrive with school transcripts that differed noticeably from the norm, the Washington State Nursing Care Quality Assurance Commission (NCQAC) became suspicious.
